It’s a teenage riot! We’re giving away tickets to the opening night of Teenage, a film adaptation of Jon Savage’s history of adolescence featuring music by Bradford Cox of Deerhunter, and we’re giving away tickets to TEEN’s album release party at Baby’s All Right. Take your pick!
TEEN, the mostly Greenpoint-based band, just dropped the first single off of “The Way And Color,” out April 22 via Carpark. The album, produced by DIIV’s Daniel Schlett, finds the three Lieberson sisters — singer Teeny (formerly of Here We Go Magic), keyboardist Lizzie, and drummer Katherine — taking their usual psych pop into r&b territory. Below, check out the awesome teaser video, listen to “Not For Long,” and enter to win two tickets to the April 24 album release party at Baby’s All Right by signing up for Bedford + Bowery’s newsletter at the bottom of the page. And to make things even more hormonal: we’re also giving away tickets to the opening night of Teenage at Sunshine Cinema. The film, co-produced by Jason Schwartzman, finds Brooklyn-based NYU alum Matt Wolf (whose previous film, Wild Combination, chronicled the life of East Village musician Arthur Russell) collaborating with punk author Jon Savage on an adaptation of Savage’s 567-page history of youth culture.
Archival newsreels, amateur movies, feature film clips, and photographs — plus some newly filmed historical reenactments — are collaged together to create a “love song to adolescence,” documenting teen tribes in America, England and Germany from 1904 to 1945. Backed by the , actors like Jena Malone (The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, etc.) read from the writings of a diverse array of teens, plumbing the inner lives of Hitler Youth, flappers, swing kids, subdebs, and so on.
The opening night, March 14, will feature a q&a with Wolf. To enter to win a pair of tickets, simply sign up for Bedford + Bowery’s daily newsletter below, and let us know whether you’re signing up for TEEN or Teenage.
