In honor of what would have been Kurt Cobain’s 47th birthday (and what is Aberdeen, Washington’s first Kurt Cobain Day) Dead Stars, the band that went as Nirvana for Halloween, just released a cover of “Old Age,” a song Nirvana recorded in 1991 that didn’t see the light of day until the box set came out in 2004.

It’s a bold move, since Cobain’s own widow has recorded a couple of versions of the song. But Nirvana covers seem to be a thing these days: there’s an In Utero tribute album coming out in April, and a newly formed all-female Nirvana band called Hervana will make its live debut in Toronto next month as well. Listen to their cover of one of the band’s greatest songs, up top.
