A little while ago we got an e-mail with the subject line: “Let the Season’s Beatings Begin!”
This could only be The Baroness, a longtime East Village latex designer who recently collaborated with Opening Ceremony, tipping us off to her annual Lubricated Shopping holiday cocktail party, where you can quaff champagne and down hors d’ouvres while browsing latex nun’s habits. We’re not sure whether this $100 executioner’s hood or the $1,000 “cyber coat” are among the items that will be up to 50 percent off. But whatever, the champagne will be free on Dec. 19, from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m., and that’s all that really matters. The Baroness only asks that you say “Merry Christmas, Baroness” — and we have a feeling she’s serious about it.
