Sure, there was a fire at the Bowery Hotel today, but the real news is over at The Standard, East Village: check out the hotel’s flashy new front doors, which will be ready to walk through once all that red tape is cut.

As part of the hotel’s $3 million overhaul, the lobby doors are moving from the glass-and-steel behemoth at 33 Cooper Square and over to Hettie Jones’s tenement building at number 27, right next to the new outdoor patio. A hotel employee who had been asked to keep quiet about construction developments said the new portico would open soon, but there’s no set date. The new restaurant is still on track for sometime this Fall.
