Elaine Li of Bushwick’s Sweet & Shiny Cafe made an awesome “Game of Thrones”-themed “nameday” cake last week for one lucky Northman. What better way to cope with (read: eat) your feelings now that the season is over and we are all in Westeros withdrawal?
The three-tiered chocolate and fondant extravaganza features an Iron Throne made out of sugar swords, the sigils of the Starks and Baratheons duking it out on the bottom tier, and a healthy spattering of what we can only assume is the blood of the birthday boy’s enemies. Delicious.
Li herself has never seen the show and isn’t totally sure what all the hype is about, but judging by the traction she’s getting on Facebook, it’s a safe bet Sweet & Shiny will be receiving a lot more “Thrones” commissions in the near future.
“I think we will,” agreed Li. “A lot of people have said, ‘Oh my God, that’s awesome, I want to get one of those.’”
