That Broad City shoot isn’t the only super exciting thing happening on East Ninth Street, between Second and Third Avenues: Yonekichi, the rice-burger stand that we’ve been champing at the bit for, finally soft-opened today — which means we can do less champing and more chomping.

We showed you Yonekichi’s menu last week, but there was an additional item when we hit it up today: a $1.75 “pickle dog” that’s really just a pickle on a stick. It’s a seasonal special that’s limited to 130 servings a day.

As for the rice burgers, they’re just as good as you’d expect from the owners of Otafuku. We got the unagi, which was delicious if a bit on the messy side (the burgers come in paper pouches so you don’t end up with eel and avocado on your shirt), and the kakiage, which might just be the perfect vegetarian hangover food: two fried-to-a-crisp onion-kale-and-carrot patties with a shiso leaf atop each, sandwiched by the grilled-rice discs that are this place’s signature.
