Dos Toros isn’t the only drunk-food chain adding a westside outpost to its downtown and Williamsburg locations. The Meatball Shop, which started on the Lower East Side six years ago, opens its seventh location in Hell’s Kitchen today. This one comes with a brighter, cleaner design and an adjacent bar. The bar as tastefully named as you’d expect from the guys whose mantra is “EAT MY BALLS” and who offer BALLS t-shirts. They’re calling the place Sidepiece.

You’ve probably seen Pat Kiernan on NY1 delivering the early-morning news in his sincere yet slightly dry style. If you haven’t, then it’s very possible you’ve seen him in 4:44 Last Day on Earth, Iron Man 3, The Avengers, or Broad City. Until the Lower East Side’s favorite Brooklyn-born, nine-year-old DJ manages to break from the shackles of his 10 p.m. bedtime, fans can only catch Kai Song spinning while the sun is wholly up. Naturally this would make him an institution at Daylife, the neighborhood’s sort-of-semi-annual three-block bash, which has its final hurrah of the season this Sunday from noon to 5 p.m.
