Kyp Malone, Susan Sarandon and Other Sandernistas Turned Up For ‘Bern NY Bern’

Flash Factory recently made a New York Times list of Manhattan clubs that are keeping it real, but it probably wasn’t the best place for a populist Bernie Sanders rally – anyone who left a $2 tip on a lousy can of Bud ($9) and a Jack and Coke ($17) would’ve immediately blown the $27 they might have otherwise contributed to the Sanders campaign. But hey, everyone who showed up for last night’s “Bern NY Bern” party got free entertainment from bands like Rain Machine and Wild Belle, plus some Instagrammable speeches from Gaby Hoffman and Susan Sarandon.

Backstage at Shea Stadium With Adam Reich of Titus Andronicus and So So Glos

Shea Stadium, the DIY music venue in Bushwick, celebrates its fifth anniversary on July 4, thanks in large part to co-founder Adam Reich. Reich is Brooklyn born and raised, and started Shea in ’09 with childhood friends and current bandmates The So So Glos. Besides running a business and playing in the Glos, Reich is also a music producer and plays guitar in Titus Andronicus (releasing a 7″ and July 7). Reich sat down with me on one of Shea’s signature ratty old couches and told B+B a little about himself.

The So So Glos Promise Their ‘Wrecking Ball’ Video Is Better Than Miley’s

Back in June, the So So Glos invited us into their Bushwick HQ, Shea Stadium, and played “House of Glass” off of their newly released LP, “Blowout.” Now they’re back with a cinematic video for “Wrecking Ball” that they promise is better than Miley Cyrus’s “Wrecking Ball” video, even if none of the boys got nekkid for it. But is it better than Bruce Springsteen’s “Wrecking Ball”? Grab a coffee and a donut and find out.
