Tomorrow is 4/20 and although B+B of course does not condone the use of (for some reason still) illegal substances, we thought it only right to share some events one might be interested in if they were to indulge.
At last year’s Oscars, Seth MacFarlane hosted, Jennifer Lawrence tripped, and Ben Affleck called his marriage to Jennifer Garner “work.” Movie musicals and James Bond were celebrated, because nobody — except 40 million viewers — wants a short ceremony, and the producers had to bookend some very expensive commercial time.
This weekend, we found a smattering of places where you can share eye rolls (it’s the 75th anniversary of The Wizard of Oz and the theme of the night is “heroes”) or memorial toasts (Roger Ebert, James Gandolfini, Paul Walker, Phillip Seymour Hoffman, Harold Ramis).

A Fight Club-themed bar called Durden opened last night in Nightingale Lounge’s former space on 13th and Second Ave (right near the forthcoming Westside Market), but don’t stop by expecting any soap outside of the bathroom or jeans stolen from a laundromat on display. The bar is movie paraphernalia-free, and the Master of Mayhem himself only appears once, as part of a mural that owner Eddie Sherman commissioned Masterpiece NYC to paint along the room’s right-hand wall.
