After you’re done casting your citizenly duty, you could head to a bar to watch the results roll in, or sit around the apartment refreshing your iPhone every five minutes. What we recommend, however, is to celebrate the finale of New York primary season by hightailing it over to The Debates: New York Primary Performance, presented by Theater in Asylum at The Kraine Theatre. Whether you’re a political junkie, a theater freak, or just kind of curious what all the fuss is about, the show is the perfect capsule of our surreal political culture.

Forget the modest muppet at the Bernie-themed art show coming to the Bowery this weekend, this muppet really took Manhattan. It remains to be seen whether Bernie Sanders will win the Democratic nomination, but this guy was definitely a winner at the underdog candidate’s Washington Square Park rally. As Muppet Bernie walked down Broadway after the event let out, he was stopped for selfies by dozens and dozens of the estimated 27,000-plus people who flooded the Village to hear from Vampire Weekend, Rosario Dawson, Tim Robbins, Spike Lee, and bird-whisperin’ Bern himself.

Bernie Sanders has been compared to a muppet time and time again, but as far as we know, only one artist has lovingly turned him into one. (That said, we have seen a Bernie puppet before). Donny Miller’s handiwork, above, will be on display on the Bowery this weekend, as part of a pro-Bernie art exhibit, “The Art of a Political Revolution.”
NYU Tells Students to Brace For ‘Thousands of People’ at Bernie Rally

While a pro-Hillary pantsuit competition brews in Bushwick, NYU is warning its students that “thousands of people” are expected to attend a Bernie Sanders rally in Washington Square park at 6 p.m. on Wednesday. A campus-wide email from the school’s Vice President for Health advises that some streets in Greenwich Village will be closed off and the area will be crowded, but if you’re an NYU student wondering whether this means you get to miss class (or your shift at Bedford + Bowery) — sorry, no.
Bushwick Party Aims to Lure Hillary Voters (and Their Pantsuits) ‘Out of the Closet’
Bernie Sanders supporters have been burning in Bushwick for months now, but that doesn’t mean the neighborhood is completely in Bernie’s mothball-filled pocket. Heather Fink– a Greenpoint sound mixer, filmmaker, and comedian– is hoping Hillaryheads will “come out of the closet” for Chillary NYC 2016, a late-night comedy showcase she’s throwing at Gold Sounds in Bushwick this Saturday. And she hopes a lot of them will bring their limiest green attire out of the closet with them, because there’s going to be a pantsuit competition.

Bernie Sanders supporters showed up in droves today at the candidate’s Brooklyn rally, undeterred by the nippy cold weather and wind gusts that sent even the NYPD tugboat off of Greenpoint’s Transmitter Park a’bobbin (perfectly in-synch with the pump-up soundtrack’s reggae rotation, I might add). The mood was elated as the Brooklynite presidential candidate prepares to battle it out with Hillary Clinton for New York state delegates, a fight set to go down on her (sort-of) home turf less than two weeks from today.
Meet Your North Brooklyn Democratic District Leader (Behind the Bar at 151)

If you don’t know who the North Brooklyn Democratic District Leader is at this point, well, then you probably haven’t attended too many Community Board 1 meetings, and it’s also safe to say that you’re definitely not a member of the Brooklyn Young Democrats. But if you live in or around Greenpoint or Williamsburg and care to be involved in the future of the Democratic Party or the Progressive movement, rest assured there are easier ways to get to know Nick Rizzo than crashing a tedious land-use committee hearing.
For one, you could always convene with Rizzo on the Lower East Side, where you’ll find him working behind the bar at 151. It was clearly a slow night when I stopped by last week (he’d just finished doing the glamorous work of juicing some oranges), so Rizzo had some time to chat about Bernie Sanders, Elena Ferrante, and a rather awkward encounter at Vito Lopez’s wake, among other things.
Bern Down For What: Hundreds of Sanders Supporters Marched For Bernie
Chants of “Feel the Bern,” “Not for sale,” and “We are the 99 percent!” echoed down Broadway on Saturday as New Yorkers participated in a national March For Bernie. The candidate himself was present only in the form of cardboard cutouts, hand-drawn portraits, and (in one case) a Bernie puppet, but that didn’t stop hundreds of supporters of all ages and stripes (humans, canines, pigs, a #butterfly4Bernie, and the purple people eater below) from marching from Union Square to Zuccotti Park.
