Theater for the New City 155 1st Ave., East Village, New York, NY, United StatesFor the kickoff of Summer Street Theater Tour, which has been bringing free outdoor theater to low-income communities since the 1970s, TNC will close down the block in front of its building on East 10th Street for the premiere of “Sanitation,” with a BBQ to follow. Passersby will be able to pull up a lawn chair or milk crate to watch the eco-friendly musical about three Lower East Side sanitation workers who scrounge together their savings to take a cruise to the Caribbean, only to get sidetracked by Hurricane Sandy.
