The Wing, the popular, Instagrammable, and sometimes controversial coworking, childcare, and event space for women, is officially coming to Williamsburg this fall.
This will be The Wing’s fifth New York location (including a Bryant Park spot also opening this fall), second Brooklyn location, and first in North Brooklyn. More specifically, they’ll be setting up shop in northern Williamsburg at 71 North 7th Street between Wythe and Kent Avenues, in a building The Real Deal reported was originally meant to be residential condos.

Beyond New York, they also operate locations in Los Angeles, Boston, Washington DC, Chicago, and San Francisco. They’re not stopping there; Wing spaces in Toronto and Seattle are slated for 2020 and a “five-story townhouse” in London is scheduled to open later this year. The company, founded in New York in 2016 by Audrey Gelman and Lauren Kassan, has raised over $117 million in funding, with investors including actress Kerry Washington, FIFA Women’s World Cup champion Meghan Klingenberg, and Airbnb.

Spanning three floors and 12,000 square feet, the Williamsburg location will include the typical Wing amenities: cafe, beauty room, conference rooms and phone booths, WiFi, free drip coffee, showers, “lactation room,” and a selection of feminist books for the borrowing. It’s also the second location to include The Little Wing, a space catering to mothers offering childcare and classes for young kids.

Unsurprisingly, the Williamsburg location’s design (by an in-house team helmed by Laetitia Gorra) is just as curated as their other spaces. Warm colors and funky lighting fixtures abound, while tall windows provide natural light during the daytime. The aesthetics extend outdoors, with the addition of a roof deck and several terraces adorned with an assortment of couches, umbrellas, and plants that would put some rooftop bars to shame.
Currently, membership to The Wing Williamsburg—or any of their NYC locations—is $215 monthly or $2,350 yearly. People who wish to utilize multiple New York locations will have to belong to an “all-access” membership tier, which is $250 monthly or $2,700 yearly. In contrast, a membership to coworking giant WeWork’s North 4th Street space starts at $500 a month for a non-reserved “hot desk” or $690/month for a reserved desk, which The Wing doesn’t offer.
The Wing Williamsburg, located at 71 North 7th Street, is tentatively slated to open in early November.
