Artists and Latex Lovers Whip Out Their Pens at Kink ‘n’ Draw

Those in attendance at the most recent “Kink ‘n’ Draw” event got to feast their “lustful and perverted eyes” on latex-clad live models as they posed in erotic tableaux carefully designed by one of our favorite New York characters, fetishwear entrepreneur and kink advocate the Baroness.

The Baroness seems to be a busy woman. The proprietor of East 13th Street’s eponymous “latex fashions” store, she’s always working diligently to introduce the joys of latex love to new audiences. The popular Kink ‘n’ Draw program, which occurs at East Village bar Lucky on the second Tuesday of every month, is intended as a more creative riff on the tradition of drink-and-draw figure-sketching nights, she explained in a brief phone interview.

The Baroness came up with the idea in collaboration with Abby Ehmann, the owner of Lucky bar. “People who come to the event range from people who can barely draw – people who were just at the bar and were like, ‘Oh, this is so cool’ – to people who treat it as a very serious drawing class,” said the Baroness. “A jolly good time is had by all.”

The Baroness alternates hosting with Lady Zombie, another figure from the kink world. When the Baroness hosts, the models always wear latex, her calling card, and she carefully choreographs their BDSM or bondage-related scenes. Outfits might include straitjackets, gas masks, or other accoutrements. The models change each month, and she always does them as a pair. “I like to do two people because you get a more interesting dynamic,” she said.
