In case you forgot, Gilmore Girls is making a triumphant return to Netflix on November 25, just in time for the show’s Sweet 16. If you just can’t wait till then to cozy up with
your best friends on Earth these strictly TV-only characters who you’re just somewhat mildly familiar with, and a piping-hot cuppa Joe (the Gilmore Girls official beverage of choice, duh), then Netflix has something sweet (but mostly just bitter) to hold you over.
For one day only, Netflix wants all you Gilmore Girls fans out there to claw your way out of your crippling Netflix-n’-chill rut where you’ve been stuck since you could just watch the show on regular TV, and check out one of the 250 coffee shops across the country that they’re transforming into Luke’s Diner. It’s happening one day only, this Wednesday, October 5. But then you go right back to where you came from. Right back.
It’s anyone’s guess if the shops will go as far as to include Luke’s infamous “no cell phones” sign, but it’s hard to imagine the cozy, hospital-green diner without it. If only a flannel-clad Luke was included in the deal too… But hey, maybe if you purchase some of that Gilmore Girls merch (Luke’s aprons, t-shirts, and other surprises) you can use it to channel Luke’s energy into some witchy love potion and he’ll be forever, consensually yours.
If you’re hoping to get in on the action, be sure to get up early on Wednesday because the magical transformation has an ephemeral, Cinderellaesque lifespan from just 7 am to noon. And only the first 250 cups per location are free. Wow, so that means that the coffee’s gonna be killer, right?
If you’re anything like Lorelai and Rory and you can’t live without coffee/your hourly caffeine fix, then we’re sure that the only crack you’re blazing is at the crack of dawn. Therefore getting up so early shouldn’t be a problem, especially if free coffee’s involved.
