In what’s pretty much a music nerd’s dream come true, AirBnB is offering the chance to stay overnight at Rough Trade. If you’re envisioning Night at the Museum with vinyl records instead of Teddy Roosevelt and Sacagawea, don’t worry, it’s not that sketchy (unless you want it to be, to each their own), and it’s safe to say Ben Stiller won’t be there.
The contest is a promotion for the Sonos Listening Room, a new living room-like area inside of Rough Trade where you can spin a selection of vinyl. Music is curated according to your taste: you can make requests, or simply tell the clerks at Rough Trade what you’re into and they’ll choose for you. The room is fully equipped with a Pro-Ject record player and some of the Sonos speakers that are on offer at its hip new Soho flagship.
Whitney Walker, general manager of Sonos Stores, tells us the “modern, smart, and warm” space is equipped with vintage décor and comfy mid-century modern furniture, making it a nice enough escape from your shitty apartment. I mean, do you have out-of-print music zines and a custom illustration by Mark Stamaty in your place?
If you want to stay overnight, enter the contest before Sept. 25. If you end up being one of two lucky contest winners, this could be the site of your next slumber party, complete with a fridge stocked with munchies from local eateries. Not to mention, it’s the perfect place to crash after seeing a Rough Trade show.
