Part of the “Summer of Bondfire” program, the slate of films will include “No Boni,” an “Afro-futurist/sci-fi film” by DuBois Ashong, and “Corazon,” Brooklyn filmmaker Shavon Meyers’ somber dramatization of a lovelorn LGBTQ woman’s final act. Other shorts will soon be announced (keep checking Bondfire’s and Luminal’s websites for updates). There will be a panel discussion with all filmmakers involved, hosted by Curtis John of The Luminal Theater, as well as a fully stocked concession stand for those who are feeling peckish.
And this being Bushwick/Bed-Stuy, there will obviously be an afterparty, with no scheduled ending time in sight. DJs iLLSpokkin (Freestyle Mondays) and Macedonia (Both Sides of The Surface) will be overseeing the festivities and encouraging you to dance your face off way past your bedtime. Get your tickets ($15) here.
Friday, July 29 at 8pm. Opera House Lofts, 27 Arion Place between Bushwick Ave and Broadway, Brooklyn. $15.
