WEDNESDAY

Erin Markey: Humping A Gatorade Bottle
At The Duplex, 61 Christopher Street, West Village. 9:30pm. $15 plus a two drink minimum. More info here
Performance artist/comedian/writer/singer/actress/my friend Erin Markey is always a pleasure to watch onstage. Her cabaret shows at The Duplex and Joe’s Pub are full of strange and compelling life stories, odd characters, impressive voice work, jokes you might not realize are hilarious until five seconds after they’re told, and some very nice singing. This show, with the truly memorable subtitle of Humping a Gatorade Bottle, is sure to be no less wonderful and intriguing, in addition to being a “heartwarming crossfit program.” Now that’s what I call one-stop shopping.

LQQK
At La Luz, 135 Thames Street, Bushwick. 9:30pm. $5 advance, $10 doors. More info here.
Local art and production collectives Jem Entertainment and Experimental Bitch Presents team up for this evening that’s part show, part party. They’ve got tunes by DJ Average Jo, performances by Rify Royalty, the excellently-named Blake Deadly, Adriana Santiago, and a work-in-progress showing of choreographer/musician/performer José Rivera Jr’s “glam electro pop concert” dance-music-theater piece LQQK, featuring original music by SOPHIE. Come dressed your sparkliest and prepare to ooh, ahh, and dance the night away. And, you’ll be helping while you do it: all profits at the door will be donated to the Orlando shooting victims.

Cartoon Monsoon: 5,000,000th Episode Clip Show Extravaganza!
At The Annoyance, 367 Bedford Ave, Williamsburg. 10pm. More info here
Comedians Mary Houlihan and Joe Rumrill host this delightful romp of cartoons n’ comedy alongside Music Man Steve DeSiena, Tim Platt (aka artist King Bozo), and his Puppet, every first Friday of the month. It appears this show will be more jam-packed than ever before, with a dazzling and silly array of sketches, music, wacky characters, puppets, bits, toons, and more. Will they actually show 5 million clips, or is this just all bravado and hyperbole? Pop down to the Annoyance, say hello to the nice mannequin in their bathroom, and come see what adventures await.

VV.ØRMHOL.e __: Closing of the Torus__Porta
At Torus Porta, 113 Stockholm Street, Bushwick. 6pm-4am. More info here
Home base of richly-visual and often-messy bizzaro performance art duo Wild Torus offers one mega-marathon final(?) public performance at their humble basement space on Stockholm Street. To do so, they’ve assembled a veritable army of their friends and collaborators: performances begin at 6pm and go until the dead of night, because these folks love to go all out. It’s honestly hard to tell or describe the full extent of what you could experience here. To start, they’ve got music like the noisy duo Marital Dispute and wailing cellist Valerie Kuehne, performance and tattoo artist Josh Kil, multidisciplinary artist Uta Brauser, and many, many more. Come early, come late, or see it all.
