Upstairs at 39 Eldridge Street, a dim, stuffy internet cafe is a refuge for hardcore gamers, glued to the computer screen for hours. This morning many of them were passed-out asleep, slouched across two chairs with hoodies pulled over their eyes and takeout food boxes crumpled next to them.

But last night, police say, it was the site of a violent altercation. At 11:15 p.m., a man stabbed two others over a dispute in one of the game rooms.

An employee at the front desk who wasn’t on duty last night said the alleged stabbing occurred in a room without cameras, where a fishing game is popular. He said the victims were not seriously harmed and that the violence was a shock at the usually calm internet cafe.

Police are still searching for the suspect, described as an 18-year-old Asian.
