Boobie Trap still holds the record for most synthetic breasts in a bar, but last night Birdy’s and Happyfun Hideaway hosted the real deal. Boobs of Bushwick, the group known for going topless around the neighborhood and uploading shots to Tumblr, bounced into Birdy’s for some foosball at around 11 p.m., followed by Jenga at Happyfun Hideaway.

Boobs of Bushwick’s first party at the Rookery in March 2015 was a major hit… in more ways than one. Group founder Kate Chiplinsky (pictured) got punched in the face by a girl who seemed to have arrived with a dude who starting calling several of the female party attendees “sluts” and was asked to leave as a result. The “titty pub crawl” was a success. Chiplinsky, who has lived in Bushwick for 4 years, told us she didn’t get punched in the face this time (see below for an unfortunate photo from their first party at the Rookery). “Everyone was super nice,” and it was fun, which is what Boobs of Bushwick is all about.
“It’s not really a political statement or anything, it’s just for fun,” Chiplinsky said, adding that she considered herself a feminist and supported the Free the Nipple movement recently rehashed by the Times. “I also have a Ph.D in psychology, so I get pretty involved in that in other aspects of my life.”

From Birdy’s the Boobs moved to Happyfun Hideaway. Chiplinsky (center left) remained topless but did sport an interracial porn production company baseball cap all night. (Photo: Nate “Igor” Smith)
She said she originally started the group as a joke, but then she and her friends decided to roll with it. At two upcoming events, they’ll be teaming up with photographer Nate “Igor” Smith as well as the Bushwick Bears, a free weekly comedy night at Lot 45. The first, at Leftfield on Feb. 10 at 9 p.m., is a release party for Smith’s new zine, a 40-pager filled with images of public nudity. The second, at Lot 45 on Feb. 16 at 9 p.m., is a celebration of Valentine’s Day letdowns featuring Bushwick Bears comedians. All are welcome to attend. (Just don’t punch her in the face.)
Chiplinsky added that she’ll be DJing in between comics at the Bushwick Bears event.
“It’s going to be a blast,” she said. “Who knows what’s going to happen.”
