This weekend Spoonbill & Sugartown Booksellers is hosting a sale at its Williamsburg warehouse, soon to be replaced by a new facility on Montrose Avenue.

“We are just clearing out old stuff we don’t want to take with us to the new warehouse,” co-owner Jonas Kyle told us over the phone. The “hodgepodge of stuff” includes art books, poetry, and literature.

The first installment of the sale, last weekend, went very well, said Kyle, and neighbors of the new warehouse are psyched, too. “The people that are there are excited, it’s what Bedford used to be. The people that are living there are the ones that were displaced from here,” he said from his Bedford Avenue store.

Will the store itself be following them east? Kyle noted the rising prices on Bedford but assured us that Spoonbill had no plans to close or move. The clearance sale “just involves our backroom warehouse situation,” he said.
