No, that wasn’t a bread line on the Bowery today. New Yorkers lined up for the chance to shop for “new sneakers and apparel” from Nike.

This afternoon around 12:30pm, a line of about 50 wristband wearers stretched down Bowery and Great Jones Street, awaiting their allotted hour of shopping at the Zoom City SNKRS pop-up. We haven’t seen such a fashion frenzy since H&M first collaborated with high-end designers. But, no, this isn’t some thrilling Fashion Week collab with Lululemon — the pop-up is actually for NBA All Star Week.

None of the hopefuls who braved the cold this afternoon had any clue what they were waiting up to two hours in line for, since the items were “top secret.” Nevertheless, a representative of Team Epiphany, a company that helped in the event production, told us that 1,500 people were expected daily until the pop-up pops down on Sunday.

Online sign-up is now closed, so you can forget about scoring some gold Foams. But you’re welcome to make like these dogs and stare at the crowd with disdain.
