Local garage punks Parquet Courts, AKA Parkay Quarts, did a really confusing thing recently and teamed up with another band of similar musical tastes, PC Worship. Together these Brooklyn bands gave birth to PCPC, a bb that could play sick shows right out of the womb. But apparently music isn’t something the only thing these guys are keen to collaborate on. Tonight at Trans Pecos, AdHoc is throwing a party for the release of 2014, a book by A. Savage and Justin Frye.
The book is chock full of artwork associated with this year’s PCPC tour– flyers, screen prints, sketches, and collages, some of them presumably made on the road. The book is available from local record label Dull Tools. Or if you’re looking to not be a hermit tonight, you can pick a copy up at the release party. And hey, you can catch a PCPC show while you’re at it.
Three other exceptional bands are playing– Guardian Alien (mathy, psyched-out rock from Queens), Excepter , (bizarro synth-scapes), and Rat Piss Aquarium (Weyes Blood side project). The party starts at 8pm and music goes until late. No word yet on how much getting in the door will cost you.
