The city’s newest underground boxing series isn’t the only one asking you to hop aboard the party train without knowing where it’s going.
#LESbeat just dropped the above trailer for this year’s installment, happening Thursday, December 11. Like Overthrow and its boxing parties, the teaser trades heavily on the iconography of the bad ol’ LES and CBGBs. Not that #LESbeat doesn’t have a track record of its own: past performers at surprise venues like the East Broadway Mall have included Cam’ron, Matt & Kim, A$AP Mob, the Ying Yang Twins, and Jamie XX.
But you won’t get to find out who’s playing this year, or where the party is, until you snag tickets. They’re free for “creatives & entrepreneurs throughout the Lower East Side,” but you’ll have to “hit up your local L.E.S. connect” for a pair, per the invite. If you’re wondering who that might be: the party is thrown by Red Bull and indieFORK, the hospitality company of Matt Levine, who opened The Eldridge, Sons of Essex, and more recently Chalk Point Kitchen and The Handy Liquor Bar. And who knows, the Lower Eastside Girls Club might be able to get you in if you promise to be generous with your donation at the door.
