If “porn fest” sounds like what happens every time your roommate leaves for work, rest assured the one happening in Bushwick later this winter will be different: the first annual NYC Porn Film Festival will present strictly indie, experimental and low-budget filth, with an emphasis on sci-fi futurism. It’s less YouPorn and more DoItYourselfPorn.

The cavalcade of smut, being put on by Secret Project Robot from February 28 to March 1, will feature skin flicks in the genres of “messy” (think “food, paint, water, mud, collages, confusion, chaos, spit, slime, garbage, filth”), “movement” (everything from “dance” to “public transport”), animated/fantasy (everything from zombies to furries), and sci-fi (because makin’ love is the only thing that transcends time and space).

And it promises to “display all diversity regarding sexuality, gender expression, body culture, class, fetishism, and race” (Secret Project Robot also hosts the Bushwick Drag Festival, after all), which makes it sound a little bit like Dan Savage’s Hump! Tour.

But while Hump! came out of the West Coast, this particular horn-o-plenty aims to honor NYC’s porn history while also fostering “a dialogue focused on new technologies & distribution channels and how they can be utilized.” So, lots of digital exploration!

If there’s anything on your iPhone that fits the bill (rest assured, “no budget” films are fair game), the deadline for submissions is Jan. 10 and the e-mail nycpornfilmfestival@gmail.com.
