After expanding to St. Marks Place and then launching a food truck, Upper East Side institution Papaya King has decided to go for the jugular and isĀ putting down roots in Herald Square, ground zero for dirty-water dog vendors. Starting Oct. 23, the king willĀ stationĀ its flashy newĀ food cart (shown here) outside of Macy’s in Herald Square. It’ll be at Broadway and 35th StreetĀ from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. serving hot dogs, veggie dogs, corn dogs, and knishes. ThisĀ is such a setbackĀ to workaday wienerĀ vendors that we don’t know how they’re going to ketchup.

If youĀ head up to Macy’s, make sure to check out the city’s oldest wooden escalators. They’re pretty awesome. But rest assured you needn’t fight the holiday shoppers to relish the King’s new cart. It’llĀ alsoĀ be stationed at our Bedford + Bowery Bazaar on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., offering theĀ menu items you see below. Fried Oreos for all!
