Okay fine, the Bedford + Bowery Bazaar isn’t the only market in town. As we noted last week, a new one called the Brooklyn Xchange is aiming to bring Brooklyn vendors to Soho starting Black Friday. Today, the organizers dropped a promo video starring co-founder Leo Reis that’s pure old-school Brooklyn. No twee terrariums here — in fact, the background music sounds like something out of Escape From New York. You almost expect a column of zombies to start walking up the Brooklyn Bridge, where — naturally — the call for vendors was shot.
Anyway, while one market brings Brooklyn folk to Soho, another one is bringing them to Nolita. Williamsburg’s venerable weekend market, Artists & Fleas, is hosting one of its vintage showcases at 201 Mulberry on November 8 and 9. While DJs spin, you can drunk-browse the wares of Vincy Vintage, Vagabond Vintage, Vetta Vintage and — well, you get the idea. Veni, vidi, vintage! You can peep the full lineup here.
That isn’t the only big news Artists & Fleas has in store. Today a rep tells us that the Williamsburg mothership is taking over a next-door warehouse and having a big ol’ holiday market featuring 100+ vendors. Opening weekend, on November 1 and 2, will be a Halloween-themed affair, with candy, and vendors and shoppers in costume.Â
