Blish3A darkened Nino’s Pizza is a bizarre sight indeed, which explains why locals have been peering into the slice joint on the corner of St. Marks and Avenue A all night. The dread orange sticker on the window explains that it was closed by a health inspector today, but it’s unclear why: it got an A on the last inspection (in 2013) listed on the health department’s website.

This is probably just a routine snafu, but there’s cause for concern: last time Nino’s was shut down by the health department, in December of 2012, it remained closed for months, until original owner Nino Camaj reclaimed the pizzeria he had operated for 18 years and reopened it.
