The St. Mark’s Bookshop had hoped to open in its new digs “a few days” after its lease expired at Third Avenue on July 1. Now, after a brief delay, it has dropped an exact date.
The Bookshop says that “if all goes well” it’ll move its books out of storage on Thursday and reopen at 136 E. Third Street (between First Avenue and Avenue A) on Saturday, July 12.
You can read more about the new store’s curvy, modular interior here. Apparently the buildout is being completed “with donated material and volunteer labor,” so it’s appropriate that the lighting was designed by a guy by the name of Brian Cheap.
