The city was awash in color Saturday. While the lucky few got to attend a party at Kenny Scharf’s Cosmic Cavern in East Williamsburg (peep the amazing shots that hit Instagram), some 4,000+ people poured into an industrial space deep in East Flatbush for the third annual Festival of Colors: HOLI NYC, a tribute to the Hindu holiday centered around welcoming spring.
Organizers Jack Langerman and his girlfriend, artist Alana Dee Haynes (both Brooklyn natives and producers of underground events at NYU Poly) brought a colorful makeover to the space known as C-PAC: there were grassy chillout areas, photobooths, and of course the coordinated color throws that give the festival its name. Greenwich Village-based band EMEFE provided live backing for a showcase featuring local rappers TARO and Adrian Lau, and Sweater Beats got the color-caked crowd swaying as night descended.
