It’s the weekend! Maybe we’ll clock out and head over to Bowery and Kenmare to experience NYC’s first Cat Cafe! Oops, scratch that idea.

For the second day in a row, the line was capped hours before closing time.

Repeat: if you show up now, you will NOT be able to queue up outside the best publicity-generator of all-time (even The New Yorker wrote about it):

Why are they shutting down the line so early, anyway?

Now if only the City of New York would consider a similar policy.

Here’s what was in store for those who made it in time:

Besides the lines, there were two other big news items today in the Cat Cafe universe. Day two began with 21 cats on the premises (up from 16 yesterday). Also:

Yep, there are special cards for VIPs, Very Important Petters. AKA “Frequent Visitor Cards,” for those who’ve made it through that four-hour line umpteen times since yesterday morning. Really, the cards went to the 100 people at the front of the line when it closed yesterday at 7 p.m.

Speaking of VIPs, there’s been at least one celeb sighting at the Cat Cafe:

Carrie Ann Inaba

That’d be Dancing with the Stars judge Carrie Ann Inaba.

She looked pretty fetch, as did this girl:

However, it’s not a total Cat Cafe stroke-fest:

And people are worried about standing in line for hours, only to get sent home with their tails between their legs:
