ONE OF US, formed in March 2013, puts on site-specific, immersive performances related to the history of its venues. In this case: St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Williamsburg. The church was founded by a group of German Lutherans in 1853, making it one of the oldest churches in north Brooklyn. If you’ve ever walked near the Montrose stop, you know its brick and terra cotta spire.
The church’s history, members and culture will be touched on in some way during performances that include a kiosk for “temporal meditation and reflection,” a Death of a Salesman-like skit involving a high-stakes Scrabble game, an “interactive ritual cleansing with audience participants,” sound pieces and monologues.
Four performances will be held between Friday, March 28 and Sunday, March 30. Tickets can be bought here.
