Welcome to Girls Talk, in which two of our favorite New Yorkers share the text messages they sent during this week’s episode of Girls.
The text in blue belongs to Sarah Gregory, one-fourth of the creative power behind The Gregory Brothers where she serves as the Director of Diversity (she’s the lone female). The Gregory Brothers make music and YouTube videos, and broke out with their “Auto-Tune the News” series. Watch the group’s videos on their two YouTube channels, Schmoyoho and The Gregory Brothers. Sarah lives in Greenpoint with her husband, Evan Gregory.
The text in gray belongs to her friend Christine Femia, who lives in East Williamsburg. Christine has contributed to Bust magazine and The Complete Guide to Everything podcast. She’s participating in the upcoming National Abortion Access Bowl-a-Thon.
Episode 9: “Flo”
Hannah gets called away from the city because Grandma Flo is in the hospital.
To ensure that Flo will eventually rest in peace, Hannah’s mom makes a request of Hannah: say that you and Adam are betrothed and not just living in sin. Hannah refuses and calls Adam to vent.
While their moms argue about inheritance, Hannah’s brusque cousin, med student Rebecca, invites her out for the drink. Obviously, Responsible Rebecca is the designated driver.
Hannah and Rebecca sustain minor injuries in the car accident, and Adam comes to the hospital to make sure Hannah’s OK. They witness an epic argument between Hannah’s mom and aunts.
Adam introduces himself to Flo as Hannah’s fiance, and Flo responds with cryptic marriage advice. The next morning, Flo feels much better and Hannah returns to NYC.
Upon arrival at Grand Central, Hannah gets another phone call: grandma’s dead.
Check back next Monday when we’ll have show critiques from two new Girls Talkers!
