It’s been four years in the making, but Kassa Overall is finally ready to release his album, Like Life. The 8-track body of work has gone through innumerable phases and cycled through about 400 track options.
Kassa — who lives in Bushwick, but hails from Seattle — has spent a lot of time working with former Das Racist founder Kool A.D. Since the dissolution of Das Racist, the two men formed KOOL & KASS and released a full-length album, Peaceful Solutions, in April.
We recently met up with Kassa at Mirrortone Studios in Manhattan for a live session. He brought along Bushwick’s TECLA (acoustic piano), Paul “BAE BRO” Wilson (synth/electronics) and Cinque Kemp (drums) to perform the track “Kevin” off of the upcoming release.
