Coming your way faster than you can say “wayward seed deluge,” it’s the second iteration of what’s indisputably the artiest smut fest the world over. The NYC Porn Film Festival is returning June 4 and 5), uniting an actually-smart postmodern exploration of porn with an earnest, non-binary, non-heteronormative, super sex-posi celebration of sex on film.

This year, the organizers say they’re once again dedicated to “exploring human sexuality through art, audience participation, parties, live performance, film, virtual reality, and sex technology.” Even if it’s highly unlikely that we’ll be seeing Miley Cyrus on the bill again this year, there will be plenty else to set fire to your loins.

The very first NYC Porn Film Festival, held last year at Secret Project Robot, proved to be wildly popular and so events this year are being moved to a slightly larger venue, the big ol’ rent-a-studio space at Chemistry Creative (305 Ten Eyck Street) in Bushwick.

No matter what your “position” on porn, there’s something for everyone–  including amateur submissions (see what your freak-a-leak neighbors are up to these days), experimental porn (a reimagining of Minions, perhaps? those sexless little worker larvae are just screaming to be reborn as anthropomorphized butt-plugs), and films featuring “dynamic” displays of gender.

Perhaps watching porn in a room full of people is a terrifying thought? Maybe you’re not being ironic when you wear that layered petticoat number with a sunbrella that’s perfect for flashing coy winks under? For all you ruddy neo-Victorians out there, the fest will once again offer a number of lectures that can act as your kiddie pool of sorts. Don’t feel bad about toe dippin’– (your Facebook fans will still see that you’re “attending” the porn fest) but do eventually jump all the way in.

The festival’s founder is Simon Leahy– a fabulous guy (and girl) about Bushwick who’s involved in all sorts of amazing projects as the drag queen Baabes Trust, a member of the raucous noise punk band Bottoms, and co-founder of the neighborhood’s own alt-drag festival, Bushwig. Last year he told us that his mission was to “diversify” the programming as much as possible. “We have high-end art stuff alongside, like, Tila Tequila getting fucked in the ass,” he explained.

This year, the fest is once again sponsored by Porn Hub, which recently became the very first porn site to host free virtual reality and, by giving away something like 10,000 headsets last month, made it possible for at least 10,000 porn enthusiasts to look even more ridiculous in the process of doing what they do best. Not surprisingly, the festival will be getting some VR elements of its own. And don’t eye-roll city that idea just yet– as we’ve seen with at least one digi-artist, VR could have the interesting effect of opening up the porn industry to feminist and queer discourses while introducing realer body types. Or we could find ourselves fully committed blue-ssmurf on avatar creature. It’s the wild west, y’all, and judging by who’s captaining the NYC Porn Fest, it’s the revolutionary people who are ponying up.

NYC Porn Fest is accepting submissions now through May 5. All-access weekend passes available now for $89.

Correction: The original version of this post was revised because it misidentified Porn Hub as a hetero-only site.
