Brooklyn Pour Craft Beer Fest Will Be a Glugapalooza

Forgot to book your ticket to Munich for Oktoberfest this year? You can still get your beer fix this Saturday at the Village Voice‘s Brooklyn Pour beer festival. Dozens of breweries will gather at the Brooklyn Expo Center in Greenpoint for one of the biggest beer tasting events of the fall. Represent the five boroughs by slugging beers from local favorites like Flagship, Big Alice, Rockaway Brewing Co., and Other Half, and compare New York’s best to the wares of national players like Allagash, Victory, and Sierra Nevada. Or get snickered at by the craft beer cognoscenti by sipping on macrobrews like Singha, Guinness, and Kronenbourg 1664.

Daily Mail Coming to 51 Astor, Steinhardt In at 20 Cooper, Road Work Aplenty

The owner and developer of 51 Astor Place, Edward J. Minskoff, tells us he’s signed more leases for office space in the chic black building. One is with 1stdibs, a mid-century furniture and antique dealer that will lease 42,000 square feet on the third floor, and another is with Mail Online. The British company publishes the Daily Mail, the world’s most-read newspaper Website, which had been looking to expand its New York operation.

Ladies and Gentlemen, the Village Voice Has Left the Village

Believe it or not, The Standard’s new lobby isn’t the biggest news out of Cooper Square. Across the street, the venerable Village Voice has quietly slipped out of 36 Cooper, where it’s been headquartered since 1991, and has set up shop in, yes, the Financial District.

The Village Voice Is Leaving the Village… and Occupying Wall Street

In a move fittingly symbolic for a paper whose corporate overlords flew in to lay off some of its most venerated, tenured writers, the Village Voice is moving out of the Village — where it’s been, of course, since 1955 — to an office tower in the Financial District. The move is scheduled for sometime in August.

The new offices are located on the twenty-first floor of an office building at 80 Maiden Lane. Also in the building are the International Gay and Lesbian Human Rights Commission, Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of New York, the New York offices of the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force, and the Department of Investigation for the City of New York. According to a realtor at Winick Realty Group, the sandwich chain Jersey Mike’s will be opening its first Manhattan location in the building’s ground-floor retail space over the summer.
