Walk down Morgan Avenue, past Owen Dippie’s recent mural of Renaissance artists sporting Mutant Ninja Turtle masks, and you’ll get to ASVP’s latest, “Triple Crown.” The black-and-white painting on the side of Sugarlift gallery shows three horses, all clean lines and free-flowing manes. “It’s derived from a larger theme that we’ve incorporated into some of our recent work,” a member of the anonymous duo told us. “The concept of finding wildness.”
The once dark and desolate area around the former 3rd Ward building is brightening up. Months after Livestream Public moved into 195 Morgan Avenue in May, Sugarlift is now up and running across the street, in a second building leased by Livestream.
The Livestream Public space in East Wiliamsburg just got its first tenant in Sugarlift, an online art boutique that commissions and sells exclusive limited-edition prints from a seasonally rotating group of artists.
