Nitehawk’s Downstairs Bar Adjusts Its Tracking For a New Look

You may or may not remember that Nitehawk has a downstairs bar. I pretty much had to squeeze my brain as tight as I could to get those memory juices flowing enough to squirt out the tiniest drop of recalling getting a beer there once. And maybe that’s because it used to be about as bland as my date was that night. But Lo-Res has a whole new feel thanks to a new menu, an interior overhaul, and one super cool addition — a constantly streaming selection of rare and weird VHS’s from John Woods’s (the Williamsburg theater’s director of programming and acquisition) epic collection, curated by Kris King (Nitehawk’s blogger and social media manager), and made technically possible by Max Cavanaugh, the tech director and programmer.

You might be surprised to hear that, for a hefty sum by the standards of most mortals, you can actually pay someone (a Registered Nurse someone, not just anyone, mind you) to cure your hangover by stopping by your home, sticking a needle in your arm and dripping liquids into your veins until they’re positively brimming with vitamin and anti-oxidant goodness. Or maybe you’re already onto this game, maybe you’re a rich bank boy who can’t possibly take a day off from destroying the world for something as frivolous as a hangover. In that case, my sincerest apologies.

Frigid Festival quickly approacheth. Starting February 18, the Kraine Theater and UNDER St. Marks will be hosting three full weeks chock full of against-the-grain theatre. This year, Frigid will host exactly 30 plays, operettas, and hybrid productions, which is plenty of theater to keep you busy.
