Tonight, Digest Some Words That Are Sexier Than ‘Be Mine’

First, from 7 to 9 p.m. at 384 Broome Street, The Poetry Brothel is offering what its very own iteration of the “quickie,” in which you get to sidle up beside the “Poetry Whore” of your choosing and bask in 15 minutes worth of his or her sweet, sweet spoken words. In this case, physical existence doesn’t hurt the experience, as there are calligraphist body painters present to leave you with a parting gift.

Stephen Colbert Still Can’t Get Over That Hillary Clinton Cover

At the Apple Store Soho last night, documentarian Ken Burns called the interface on his self-titled new free iPad app a “constellation” of historical events and themes, likening it to the “Planet Hillary” chart that accompanied The New York Times Magazine‘s January 26 cover story. A visibly drained Stephen Colbert — who’d just filmed two episodes of The Colbert Report — perked up when Burns made the reference.

Is Sam Lewontin a Coffee Snob? Well, It Depends What You Mean

Everyman Espresso has had a lot brewing lately. Earlier this week, it closed its East 13th Street store for a month of renovations and opened a pop-up at Tribeca’s Bikini Bar. All this while being sued by the state of New York for allegedly appropriating its “I ♥ NY” logo.

But Sam Lewontin, who manages the shop, is trying not to think about that right now. He’s more focused on the menu at the summer pop-up, which he’s hoping will touch off a radical new trend. It’s among the first in the country to offer espresso drinks that rival cocktails in their complexity. The Queen Mary, for instance, combines tomato jam, citrus, herb and AeroPressed Kenyan Ndaroni.
