This Spanish Spot Is Serving 100 Types of Mini Sandos (And Orange Cola Sangria!)

We didn’t think Bleecker Street could get any more authentically Spanish than that place that serves chips and salsa before your meal, but on Monday, it shall! Last night we got a sneak peak at the first NYC location of 100 Montaditos, a Spanish fast-casual chain that has 270 restaurants around Europe, Mexico and Colombia. (By sneak peak, we mean we were plied with free mugs of sangria and mini sandwiches.)

Apparently, Padma Lakshmi Wants NYU to Pack Its Knives and Go

Whelp, this land-use matter just got a whole lot sexier! Opponents of NYU’s plan to expand in Greenwich Village have gotten a few more bold-face names behind their lawsuit against the school.

A rep for Faculty Against the Sexton Plan (one of the groups suing the school) tells us Padma Lakshmi of “Top Chef” (and of the East Village) will join Village-based authors Peter Carey and Joseph McElroy in the audience at State Supreme Court on Thursday.

Third Rail Coffee Very Quietly Opens On a Very Quiet Block

When he moved to New York City 21 years ago, Third Rail Coffee owner Humberto Ricardo would take the scenic route to the subway from his apartment in Alphabet City, so he could walk down Stuyvesant Street, one of the oldest streets in the city.
“Basically, I fell in love with it,” he says. Six years ago, when Ricardo began making plans to open a coffee shop, he dreamed of securing a location on Stuyvesant.
