Here’s Your Exclusive First Look at This Year’s SummerScreen Posters

Today is the official start of summer and what better way to celebrate than getting excited for outdoor movie season. Williamsburg’s SummerScreen just released some colorful and spacey iterations of movie posters to go along with this year’s series, which kicks off July 5. Seven local artists created the posters for each film that will show in McCarren Park: Mean Girls, Office Space, Donnie Darko, Selena, I Know What You Did Last Summer and an audience choice. So fetch.

Lawsuit: Owner of Will Ferrell Theme Bar Should Stay Classy and Pay Back $120K

It’s a story worthy of five-time Emmy-Award-winning anchor Ron Burgundy and Tits McGee. An investor who teamed up with the owners of Will Ferrell-themed bar Stay Classy New York claims he’s owed $120,000. By the beard of Zeus!

In a lawsuit filed Wednesday, Michael Galkovich alleges that the owners of the Lower East Side bar, Zachary Hosier and Brian Link, agreed to make him a managing partner and a 70-percent owner of the bar’s parent company if he paid them $120,000 and won approval from the State Liquor Authority. Galkovich put in $60,000 up front, but he never got the chance to become an owner, the suit alleges.

This Woman Is Lying in a Coffin For 24 Hours to Protest the Repeal of Obamacare

For the next 24 long, hot hours Rosary Solimanto will lie lifeless in a coffin outside of the offices of senators Kirsten Gellibrand and Chuck Schumer, to protest the “fast tracking” of the repeal of the Affordable Care Act.

“If I don’t get proper medical care in the near future, that coffin’s going to be for real,” Solimanto said during an interview explaining why she was planning the performance protest.

Bowery Wall Tagged After Getting Mural By Controversial Pick, David Choe

The wall, on Houston Street and Bowery, has featured work by artists like Keith Haring and Kenny Scharf in the past and is now host to David Choe’s mural, completed last week.

‘Trump’ Gets an Icy Reception in Union Square

Trump. That’s all that was spelled out this afternoon when artist David Datuna laid down some cool art in Union Square. The all-caps letters were made of large blocks of dry ice that emitted fog that drifted away in the wind. On top of the blocks, some of which were cracked, were notes that said #thistooshallpass.
