Is the urn you see here David Schwimmer’s personal urn? It may well be, because at the time of this writing, a moving truck is parked in front of the so-called Schwimmer mansion, unloading boxes. So many boxes. The movers are making damn sure nobody gets a peek inside the mansion, the bottom floor of which is still behind plywood. In fact, there’s a man at the plywood door, pulling it closed with a string every time one of the movers enters or exits (sorry, we forgot to Vine it).

Blue Ribbon Fried Chicken Opened, and There's Still Somewhat of a Line Out the Door
Blue Ribbon Fried Chicken opened in the East Village today and though the food isn’t gratis anymore, the dining room was pretty packed. The line was only about eight people strong so there’s no real reason it should’ve been out the door but it sure makes for a better headline.

It’s the Hyperdimensional Event You Didn’t Know You’d Been Waiting For
Forget Smurfs 2 — this week one of the East Village’s trippiest artists, M. Henry Jones, wants to show you some 3-D that doesn’t suck.
‘No 7-Eleven’ Is Still Raging Against the Slurpee Machine
A while back we wondered whether the folks behind No 7-Eleven would embrace the chain now that it’s offering to hold on to their spare keys. Nyope. In June they showed up at a meeting to protest a 7-Eleven going into 403 Grand Street (it opened anyway) and yesterday afternoon, as you can see above, they were back in front of the store bound for 170 Avenue A.

Seems There Was a Pistol-Whipping in Greenpoint This Afternoon
We’re piecing together the details of an incident involving a gun that unfolded near Guernsey Street and Norman Avenue earlier today.
The police-scanner scanners over at @Breaking911 and @NYScanner tweeted that a man was shot in the area, as did another scanner service. But the police say there was no shooting; rather, a 32-year-old man was assaulted with a gun shortly before 2:43 p.m. A suspect was taken into custody but no charges had been filed yet, the police told B+B.

Do We Even Have to Tell You Today’s Ramen Burger Line Was Absurd?

(Courtesy: Ramen Burger’s Instagram)
There’s an old saying: when a dog bites a man, that is not news. But when a man bites a ramen burger, that is news.
Not that this is surprising at all: lots-o-people lined up for Ramen Burger’s second week at Smorgasburg. In fact, Eater spotted folks hunkered down in an empty lot around 8 a.m., three hours before the batch of 360 burgers even went up for sale. People, please – it’s not like this is free fried chicken.

There Will Be Mud Wrastlin’ and Crab Crackin’ in Rockaway Tomorrow
If you missed the crab feast at Cafe Ghia in Bushwick last night, don’t worry — there’s still a chance to get crackin’, and oh what a chance it is: East Village farm-to-table fixture Back Forty is taking its Tuesday night crab boils to Rockaway this Saturday and then again on Aug. 31. Starting at 3 p.m. at Low Tide Bar (at Beach 96th Street and the water), $25 gets you a bucket of spiced blue crabs, corn on the cob and steamed potatoes (or it’s $15 for a half-size bucket).

It’s the End of Fuse Gallery as We Know It, and Erik Foss Feels Fine
On Wednesday, Fuse Gallery held its last regular opening after 11 years as a hub of downtown cool and creativity. Guests like Lower East Side graphic designer Kenzo Minami and Lobster Joint owner Tommy Chabrowski gathered in the little room behind Lit Lounge to play with Aliya Naumoff’s photos of musicians who, in some cases, have shown at Fuse Gallery themselves (e.g. Karen O of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and ex-Smashing Pumpkins guitarist James Iha).
