It was a whirlwind weekend at the second-annual NYC Porn Film Festival. Who knew that getting slapped across the eyes with a regular throng of weens; being inundated with sauce shots, endless bumpin n’ grindin, butt pirates, fet fun, furries; and having to contend with a tarted-up unicorn who happened to have a passion for, well, piss could be so exhausting? It was almost as if we were the ones doing all the porking.
Coming your way faster than you can say “wayward seed deluge,” it’s the second iteration of what’s indisputably the artiest smut fest the world over. The NYC Porn Film Festival is returning June 4 and 5), uniting an actually-smart postmodern exploration of porn with an earnest, non-binary, non-heteronormative, super sex-posi celebration of sex on film.
This year, the organizers say they’re once again dedicated to “exploring human sexuality through art, audience participation, parties, live performance, film, virtual reality, and sex technology.” Even if it’s highly unlikely that we’ll be seeing Miley Cyrus on the bill again this year, there will be plenty else to set fire to your loins.
Being fanboys of the Brooklyn boy band Bottoms, we caught up with them at their Secret Project Robot home base in Bushwick just before they take off on their European tour. But don’t freak, you still have a chance to catch Jake Dibeler, Simon Leahy, and Michael Prommasit at the Butt magazine party this weekend (appropriately titled Club Butt). For the uninitiated, Bottoms are a gay electro-punk band known for their wild, confrontational draggy shows. Steeped in punk and DIY as well as performance art, these ladies really know how to shake up a static room.
Last week, organizers behind the hotly anticipated NYC Porn Film Festival finally released a schedule. And with just a couple of weeks to go until things are in full swing at Secret Project Robot, you’re probably wondering what on earth to expect.
We spoke with the festival’s founder Simon Leahy, who’s also one of the people behind Bushwig, the annual (and amazing) drag fest held at Secret Project Robot approaching its fourth year. He dropped hints about some of the surprises in store. No matter what your feelings are about mainstream porn, you’re definitely not going to want to miss this one, we can tell you that much.
