Brooklyn Brewery Says Cheers to Beers and a Ginormous New Navy Yard Complex

Brooklyn Brewery today announced plans to roll out their barrel program to the Brooklyn Navy Yard in a big way. The Williamsburg-based beer operation already has a warehouse at the yard where they’re aging 2,000 barrels of wine, bourbon, rum and mezcal by way of experimental processes. But come 2018, the company will open their new “primary headquarters” to the public inside Building 77 at the center of the yard, where they plan to produce 50,000 barrels of beer annually.

Katz’s Delicatessen Is Opening a Pop-Up

Not to be outdone by the forthcoming Russ & Daughters Cafe, that other East Houston Street institution, Katz’s Delicatessen, has just announced its own plans for an expansion — albeit a temporary one. As part of its 125th anniversary celebration, Katz’s is moving into the adjacent storefront it usually rents out (it was last occupied by Tim Horton’s) and opening The Space, a two-month-long pop-up that will “celebrate all the local artists and designers that live and work and create art down here on the Lower East Side,” per owner Jake Dell.

Russ & Daughters Is Totally Slammed With Salmonheads Right Now

photo-76Russ & Daughters is no longer taking pre-orders for Yom Kippur appetizing, so if you’re aiming to break the fast with babka, you’re going to have to hoof it down to Houston. Just one thing: the line for lox is long. Very long. A tipster tells us the person in front of her told her the wait was four hours long, and 114 people took tickets before she took off. When we called to confirm, the following exchanged occurred.
