Ah yes, it’s that time again, when the slew of January performance festivals sail in every winter to overwhelm you with a seemingly endless supply of shows. One of these is The Public Theater’s Under the Radar festival, which presents a wide variety of music, performance, and more from artists based across the U.S. and all over the world.
Representatives for 122 Community Center, the big 19th century building on the corner of 9th Street and First Avenue, opened its doors for a hardhat tour of its progressing renovations Tuesday afternoon, shedding light on plans for 15 artist studios, a rooftop deck, a pulsing, “breathing” light installation and, of course, three improved performance spaces.
Councilwoman Rosie Mendez, Borough President Scott Stringer, and a slew of officials visited the East Village yesterday to kick off the second phase of a $35 million city-funded project that will bring a new home to Performance Space 122.
