Brooklyn’s Adult Coloring Book Club is Putting the ‘Cray’ in Crayola

Adult coloring books have shot up in popularity lately– CNN’s gotten wind of it, the books were topping out Amazon’s bestsellers list earlier this year, and the high sales numbers actually made it seem like print was experiencing a resurgence (yeah, right). Things were so cray that neuroscientists, “behavioral economists,” and good old-fashioned therapists were asked to weigh in on this completely WTF trend.

Thankfully, Amazon’s bestseller list indicates that things are back to somewhat normal (i.e. adults are reading young adult novels again), as the craze seems to have subsided somewhat.  Keep Reading »

Tonight: Get Doused at this Whiskey-Filled Macbeth Inside a Distillery

Tonight, a unique production of Shakespeare’s Macbeth opens in Williamsburg. Where’s the theater, you ask? Nowhere to be found, actually: This production will be taking place inside of a distillery. The three-year-old New York Distilling Company will act as the stage for this re-imagined play, which features an original live musical score and physically-charged action that happens all around the audience. Of course, an open bar of custom Macbeth-themed cocktails will be served at the adjoining bar, The Shanty— reportedly home to one of the city’s “booziest cocktails.”
