Even if right now the weather’s making you feel like your bones will never dry, your shoes will always be soggy, and that possibly your muscles will continue spazzing forever and ever, hold on for two more days. And in the mean time, repeat over and over “Free, free at last!” Slowly, your hands will start to defrost, color will return to your face, and a your eyes will even start to twinkle. By the time Thursday rolls around you can let it all out, by placing your booty on the Bossa Nova dance floor as soon as you’re able for the venue’s third annual Synthicide party.

FDNY Cracks Down On Bossa Nova’s Ability to ‘Rave With You Full Throttle’

If you were one of the people who thought, “Ugh, that’s the end of that place” when the Bossa Nova Civic Club got that write-up in The Times last month, well then you’re probably also the type that will say, “See, I told you so,” when you hear that, according to the Bushwick boite’s Facebook page, it got a visit from the FDNY and now must limit capacity at its sweat-drenched dance parties.

Cue the message that went out earlier this evening.

Here’s Where You’ll Find Fun in the Sun This Weekend

It’s the first day of summer, in case ya hadn’t heard. Make Music New York (above) is winding down over on Astor Place, but don’t get your Brooklyn Surf Shorts in a bunch: there are plenty of after-parties, and the weather’s going to be glorious all weekend. If you’re too lazy to make it to the Mermaid Parade (King Neptune = Judah Friedlander this year) here’s where to soak up some sun locally. (All events are free unless noted.)

Hillstock Festival Block Party
This Brooklyn-wide festival by the Never Break Down music collective features dozens of bands. Their block party on Saturday on the outskirts of Williamsburg is free and lasts all day. Afterparty at The Bishop at 8 p.m.
