Van Leeuwen Gets Frozen Out, Scoops Itself Up and Reopens in Greenpoint

If you’ve been panicking ever since Van Leeuwen closed its Greenpoint store over New Year’s, a) you might have an ice cream problem, because it is freaking winter. And b) take a deep breath and update your address books: the store just reopened store six doors over. The new location, at 620 Manhattan Avenue, opened just minutes ago.

100 of the City’s Finest Fries Are Going On Dip-splay

Its latest incarnation won’t offer coffee, but rather french fries — though it won’t exactly be “offering” them. On Friday and Saturday, mayo and ketchup manufacturer Sir Kensington’s will present an exhibit highlighting “the incredible diversity of New York’s french fries.”

Honey House, a recently materialized coffee shop on East 11th Street, may look new—but to East Village locals the face behind the counter might not. Andre Muñez grew up on 26th and Second, and ran Catalog, a vintage boutique, from Honey House’s location for a couple years before he switched from clothing to coffee.
