Rage Against the Patriarchy at This Party to Unseat the Stanford Rape Case Judge

GRLCVLT is back. After initiating a protest/party/girlpower bash back in June to unseat the judge in the now infamous Stanford rape case, the self-described “female secret society” has partnered up with the official campaign to Unseat Judge Aaron Persky, which is led by Michele Dauber, a law professor at Stanford University. Determined to smash the patriarchy one party at a time, these badass ladies are raising funds by hosting their first benefit show this Monday, August 1 at Baby’s All Right.

Talks + Readings: Headscarves, Hymens, Spinsters and an Anti-Bridget Jones

As we get ready to watch Kate Bolick read from Spinster, “a revelatory and slyly erudite look at the pleasures and possibilities of remaining single,” tonight at 20 Cooper Square (6-8 p.m.), here’s a selection of other feminist-esque literary happenings this week. There are talks from a social critic and women’s rights advocate, an outspoken actress/poet, the folks at The Feminist Press, and of course there’s a modern take on Jane Eyre.
