No one should ever have anything bad to say about this universally-beloved music series that “features composers of extreme sound.” Ever. At least, we’ve never heard anyone utter a naysaying sound. That’s because the lineup at this hosted-by-Pitchfork event has always been impeccable, and it feels like all of Brooklyn awaits each progressive iteration with intense urgency. Well, Tinnitus is back again, babies. And with the series’ growing popularity (The New Yorker has touted tickets on at least a couple of occasions) it’s no surprise they’re popping off this time at Williamsburg’s Villain, a 5,000 square foot space. If your definition of XTRME covers chills beats to noise-influenced hip-hop backdrops, then Oneohtrix Point Never absolutely fits the bill. The influential producer with indie-cred has an impressive catalogue so there’s no telling what kind of treats we’ll be bestowed.
