With an incoming Whole Foods, a Levi’s, G-Star, Scotch & Soda, a Citibank, and a WeWork, the massive new building at the corner of Bedford and North 4th Street has to be the most chained up one in Williamsburg. But wait, it gets better: Equinox has announced that in October, it’ll open a gym at 246 Bedford Avenue, one of five new locations announced in conjunction with the brand’s 25th anniversary.
According to a press release, the Williamsburg club, along with a Dumbo location coming to 117 Front Street in June, “celebrates Brooklyn’s growing popularity as the new epicenter for culture, business and lifestyle.” Cultural epicenter or elliptical center?
The flex factory’s design “borrows from the manufacturing and industrial aesthetics of Brooklyn’s warehouses,” naturally, and “features include clearstory skylight caps over the 23’ ceilings, flooding the interior with natural light.”
Another Equinox is coming to Noho, at 670 Broadway. When it opens in October with an entrance on Bond Street, it’ll join newcomers Flywheel, Barry’s Boot Camp, Mile High Run Club. and NYU’s 404 Fitness in the area.
